Mary de Piro was born in Valletta, Malta in October 1946, the third child in a family of five children.
Following her initial schooling in Malta, which included Ballet training, she was educated at the Convent School of the Immaculate Conception at Badia a Ripoli, Florence, where she studied Art as well as attending the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence. Her love for Ballet has stayed with her and she is able to express this movement in her drawings.
Almost immediately her work was recognised and she began to participate in various exhibitions around the world.
Her paintings and drawings include landscapes, seascapes, townscapes and portraits, which can be found in many private collections and public institutions including the Central Bank of Malta and the Malta National Museum of Fine Arts.
Mary de Piro married Simon Bailey in 1974 and they have two sons: Sebastian and Paul Jerome. Over the years they have lived in England, Malta and Singapore.
In 2005, elder son Sebastian married Juliet and together they have two lovely daughters Genevieve and Miranda, making Mary a doting grandmother.
Whilst currently living in London, England, Mary de Piro spends parts of the year in Malta with her extended family.
